In 2011, a rare etching of the Menorah was discovered in the drainage channel beneath the 2,000 Pilgrimage Road in the City of David, adjacent to the Temple Mount, by archeologist Eli Shukron. The discovery represented what may be among the earliest renderings of the Menorah ever found. The Menorah was one of the primary vessels used in the Temple service, and today the Menorah serves as the national emblem of the State of Israel. “Then you shall make a Menorah of pure gold… Six branches shall go out from its sides; three branches of the Menorah from its one side and three branches of the Menorah from its other side.” (Exodus 25:31-32) City of David: Bringing the Bible to Life is a series of short videos highlighting archeological discoveries relating to the City of David - the place where Jerusalem began - affirming Jerusalem's Biblical heritage.
